Selecting a Car Shipping Company
Finding an auto transport company to trust your car to can be a grueling task. There are numerous companies that will be able to offer you their vehicle transportation services but which ones do you rely on? How can you tell if the auto transport company you've picked is the most trustworthy one for the job?
Before you hire the services of the auto transport company, ask these questions:
Is the auto transport service registered?
All auto transport companies are required to be registered with the Department of Transportation. Ask if your car transport service has a USDOT and MC number.
Does the car transport service have insurance?
Ask to see papers of their liability and cargo insurance papers. All car transport companies are required by law to have both types of insurance. The insurance should cover the value of your car and it should be up to date. Read the fine print in the papers and if they have limited insurance, ask them if they can provide additional coverage.
Can they provide references?
A reliable auto transport company will have no problem furnishing a list of references. When they do don't take these at face value; call the customers and ask them their experiences with the auto transport company.
Do they have a clean record?
Your local BBB will be able to tell you of any pending complaints against the auto transport company, and give you details of such complaints if they do exist.
