Prepare for Auto Shipping
Before shipping your vehicle remove all your belongings to protect the interior of your car. These items will not be insured by the auto shipper.

Avoid Auto Transport Scams

During your search for car transport companies you are bound to come across at least a few scammers or fly by nighter companies. Here's how you can protect yourself against getting scammed by an auto transport company.

Check Their References
Make sure you ask for a list of references and call the names on the list. Ask about their experiences with the auto shipping company. Did the car reach its destination on time? Was there damage done in transit? Even if there was some damage done to the car, how did the company deal with the issue?

Be wary of Pricing
If they quote very low prices, be sure you know what you're getting in return for those vehicle shipping rates. Many car transport companies who do not own their own trucks or trailers will make use of a brokering system in which they buy transportation space on other carriers that are transporting vehicles. If the quote for your car transport is too low, your car shipping company might not be able to negotiate a deal with a carrier for transportation because the vehicle shipping rates are lower than other rates used by other companies who are transporting cars on that carrier's truck.

Have Everything Down in Black and White
Make sure you have everything in writing. Contracts should clearly spell out the fine print. Fees, cancellation fees that can levied, estimated delivery time should all be mentioned. Nothing should be taken at face value or through a verbal contract. Ensure that you have everything down in writing.
